Generally, a customer reported as deceased because a credit bureau, a credit card company, a bank, or the Social Security Administration made a typo or had a computer glitch. The error gets attached to your social security number and is reported to Georgia Access when we verify your information with the Social Security Administration.
If this is indeed an error, please complete the following steps:
1. Contact Social Security to report that this person was identified as deceased by mistake. You can visit
socialsecurity.gov, go to your local Social Security office, or call Social Security at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY: 1-800-325-0778).
2. Notify Georgia Access of the mistake in one of three ways:
- Call the Georgia Access Contact Center at 1-888-687-1503 to report that you were identified as deceased in error.
- Upload a signed statement with your full name, date and contact information that states you are not deceased.
- Mail a signed statement with your full name, date and contact information that states you are not deceased. When mailing the signed statement, please also include your Application ID, which would be included on your eligibility notice you received from Georgia Access.
