Under Georgia law, you have a 10-Day Free Look Period in which you are able to retroactively terminate coverage that has started within the last 10 days. You will be refunded any premiums you may have paid. Contact Georgia Access to terminate coverage AND follow the instructions in the policy to end coverage with the insurer. Remember the free look period is only TEN days.
How to cancel your Georgia Access plan:
- Log into your Georgia Access account and click My Enrollments in the left-hand navigation.
- Scroll down to the appropriate plan and click Cancel Coverage. Follow the next steps to continue with the process of canceling your coverage.
- Refer to the policy documents provided to you by your insurer to end coverage with the insurer.
NOTE: Georgia Access does not issue premium refunds. You will need to reach out to your insurer regarding any premium refunds owed to you when canceling within the 10-Day Free Look Period.
Under the following circumstances, an enrollee can retroactively terminate coverage if they can demonstrate:
- A technical error or system failure prevented them from disenrolling.
- His or her enrollment was unintentional, inadvertent, or erroneous and was the result of the error or misconduct by Georgia Access staff.
- He or she was enrolled in a Qualified Health Plan (QHP) without his or her knowledge or consent by any third party.
In the above cases, the enrollee must request disenrollment within 60 days of discovering the error.
- They became newly eligible for Georgia Medicaid/PeachCare for Kids®.
- Authorized representatives can report the death of the enrollee, and the termination date is the date of the death.
